Yes, the view (watermark) on the above business card is one example of the scenic views that can be seen from the offices of Critical 1 Consulting, Inc. overlooking I-79 just south of Clarksburg, WV.

The technological view, or perspective, that Critical 1 Consulting, Inc. offers its customers is similarly “overlooking,” consistently providing strategic, out-of-the-box thinking, as its track record demonstrates.

Critical 1 Consulting, Inc. is a consultancy offering the highest quality of consulting in the communications and information technology market today.  Critical 1 Consulting, Inc. has extensive experience solving complex problems for the communications and information technology industries, both commercial and governmental.

Mr. Smith, the Principal of Critical 1 Consulting, Inc., has nearly thirty years experience in the information, DoD, aerospace, and telecommunications industries.  His experience demonstrates a mastery of four general (but interrelated) technological areas:

Most of that experience has involved applied R&D activities, including: software, systems,
and services development efforts of various scopes, utilizing a variety of core technologies, programming languages, organizational paradigms, delivery platforms, coordination with external collaborators, etc.

Long before founding Critical 1 Consulting, James Smith already had established a track record of superior service to his customers and to the customers of companies with whom he was employed, and has assisted them not only in achieving but in exceeding their goals.  Customers have consistently been rewarded with solutions that exceeded expectations and stated requirements, as witnessed to by the testimonials of employers and customers.

His core technology interests span all aspects of distributed problem solving—from fundamental (theoretical) distributed artificial intelligence (DAI) research, to geographical reasoning systems, to net-centric computing (e.g., Service Oriented Architectures—SOA, Global Information Grid—GIG), to human-machine (H-M) collaboration, to machine-to-machine (M2M) technologies.  His experience in this broad area spans from fundamental research (DAI), to infrastructure development (in the telecommunications sector, and more recently, DoD’s GIG), to specific application areas (from DARPA’s Pilot’s Associate to ORNL’s SensorNet).

Currently, he is actively involved in SensorNet (ORNL) and GIG (DoD’s Global Information Grid) related projects that leverage M2M technologies in new and innovative ways.  Recently, he has developed for the West Virginia High-Technology Consortium Foundation (WVHTF) a strategy for the coordination and convergence of several WVHTF programs.
The plan leverages such critical technologies as WiMax, session initiation protocol (SIP), and the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS).

He has developed and continues to maintain standalone websites for religious organizations.  This website development has involved the NetObjects Fusion development package.

The goal of Critical 1 Consulting, Inc. is to provide its customers with courteous, expedient, professional service of the highest caliber at very competitive prices.
